Wear your aligners all throughout the day except during eating and brushing, unless instructed otherwise.
Change each aligner stage aligner every 2 weeks.
DON’T DISCARD PREVIOUS ALIGNERS, store them safely after 2 weeks’ use.
Brush and floss your teeth after each meal or snack prior to re-inserting your Novoalign® aligners. Clean the aligners also prior to each insertion using a soft bristle toothbrush & water.
When Inserting the aligner, gently push the aligners over your front teeth. Then, apply equal pressure, using your fingertips, to the top of your left and right molars (Back Teeth) until the aligner snaps into place.
If aligners don’t fit properly, use ALIGNER CHEWIES kept in the Aligner box. Chewies are used to close any gaps between the teeth and aligners. Typically when you wear a new set of aligner trays (especially the first tray), they may not fit tightly against your teeth. Biting on the Chewie helps the trays to fit tighter on the teeth, which helps the treatment progress faster.
To use an Aligner Chewie, position it between your teeth and bite on it. Move it from one end of your mouth to another, continuing to bite up and down, until you have bitten on it with all your teeth. Then go back and do it again, and keep repeating the process. It should be done for 5 to 10 minutes several times per day in first 2-3 days of every stage wear.
You may REMOVE THE ALIGNER, using your fingers, start on one side at the molars, and slowly work your way around to the other side. To help prevent damage, avoid unnecessary and too frequent removal. DO NOT use any sharp object to remove your aligners.
After removal, rinse the aligner with water, shake off excess water, and store your aligners in the PROTECTIVE CASE provided with your aligner kit.
Aligner is an active orthodontic appliance, and exerts forces on your teeth, and may cause some TIGHTNESS OR PRESSURE OR DISCOMFORT in initial 2-3 days of some stages, as it releases newer forces.
Aligners must be worn compliantly as teeth have a natural tendency to RELAPSE. If for any reason you have to be without aligners for some period of time (any occasion or holiday or waiting time before next set arrives) it shouldn’t be more than 5-7 days.
Even after TREATMENT COMPLETION, you must not just discontinue aligner wear, you must keep wearing the last aligner till the treating doctor advises you on RETENTION.
Make a habit to email SELF TAKEN ALIGNER FITTING PICTURES to your doctor on monthly basis, for his records, monitoring and advice.
